The Mission & Mission Church in San Juan Capistrano CA : Mission San Juan Capistrano, the Birthplace of Orange County, was founded more than two hundred years ago as the 7th of 21 missions statewide, and one with a chapel still standing where Fr. Serra once celebrated Mass. Today it is a monument to California's multi-cultural history, embracing its Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European heritage. Originally built as a self sufficient community by Spanish Padres and Indians, the Mission was a center for agriculture, industry, education and religion. Placid Rage : The Democratic National Convention is in town, and with it comes a wide variety of tangents. Rage Against the Machine performed in concert Wednesday and encouraged the audience to march to Mile High Stadium (alias Invesco Field) after the show. As with many protests, this one picked up a number of stragglers and straggler causes along the way. However, the crowd remained well-behaved throughout the lengthy march.

I am NOT making a political statement by sharing these photos, although the "More Bikes/Less Oil" offshoot is a cause I can really sink my teeth into! I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and the newspaper ink that still courses through my veins spiked my adrenaline level and spurred me to walk in my dusty retired newshound shoes for a few enjoyable moments.
